Connect AHA eCards (Direct Connection)

Card Banks, Issuers, and Multi-alignment setup

Use this when: you want Hovn to issue AHA eCards using your existing inventory (Training Center, Training Site, or Instructor inventory).

Who this is for: Service Provider Admins/Owners.

Outcome: An AHA Card Bank is connected; the right Issuers are assigned; instructors’ Agency IDs are set; you can issue cards from one or many banks.

Why Connect Your Card Banks

A Card Bank links Hovn to your AHA eCard inventory at ecards.heart.org. Connecting a bank lets Hovn issue eCards for your classes using the inventory you already own or manage.

This prevents double entry (and errors) and can bring all of your rosters and records into a single system.

You can connect multiple banks to one Hovn account—ideal for primary/secondary alignments or instructor-owned inventory.

Key concept: Issuing permission is granted per bank. A user added as an Issuer can issue from every bank they’re assigned to.

Before you begin (prereqs)

You are an Admin on your Hovn Service Provider account.
You have your AHA Training Center ID.
Requester Key: must come from the right owner of the inventory you’re connecting:
- Training Center inventory → key from the TC Coordinator
- Training Site inventory → key from the TS Coordinator
- Instructor inventory → key from that instructor
Ensure that anyone who will issue has their AHA Instructor ID (Agency ID) on their Hovn profile.

Step 1 - Create an AHA Card Bank

Go to Settings → Card Banks → Create
Choose AHA eCard API
Name the bank clearly so your team recognizes it, e.g.:
